Reflection

As we move away from preparing students for the industrial age and preparing them for the 21st century, the roles and responsibilities of educators are shifting. As the leader of your building, what role do you see yourself assuming in incorporating technology at your school?

Leading by example...using the tablet at meetings, taking notes and using it to demonstrate. For example, with the new Inquiry Teams and the new Inquiry Team Place, I'd like to be able to demonstrate how to use it as I meet with Inquiry Teams.

Principals must be at the forefront of any shift in ideology. The shift to producing a more tech savvy student is no different. one cannot propse infusing more technology into the classroom if as the instructional leader you are not doing just that. Leading by example.

Principals need to be able to model best practices of utilizing technology in all aspects of our continually evolving and changing role. I plan to use the technology skills that I'm learning in the areas of: analyzing and improving student achievement by collection of Data (Data Mining); PD and sharing presentations and best practices with the use of smart boards; offering staff opportunities to learn online; arming students with the technology skills they will need for jobs of the 21st century; and sharing information and communicating more effectively through the use of blogs and Wikkis.
